Most of the blogs I write are about educating my clients. I want each of them to know what they can do to get the most out of their session and how to look the way they want. I want them to love the end product, and I will do everything I can to make that happen.
One of the biggest things that I wish my clients knew was how to avoid having blue lips in pictures.
Yes, you read that right. Sometimes, lips can look blue in pictures.
Fear not! If you have noticed this in your pictures, you are not frozen, or a zombie (at least I hope not). It is just the way the camera picks up different colors. If you are a blonde, red-head, or just generally someone who is more fair skinned, having blue lips in pictures is more common.
Don’t worry though, there is a really simple fix! Keeping yourself from having blue lips in pictures is as simple as wearing a bit of lip color. Mind you, that doesn’t mean you have to go 50’s style, deep red, or run out and buy a Kylie Lip Kit (Although I am admitting that recently, I’ve been totally obsessed). If you are like me and rarely wear lip color, a little tinted chap stick is perfectly fine.
I actually asked a makeup artist friend for a recommendation for a super basic lip color that just keeps you looking healthy without making it “pop”. Chenese Bean does make up on movie sets, so I asked her about a product that even a guy could wear without looking like he was wearing lipstick and she suggested using Smith’s Rosebud Salve. It’s a chap stick with just a TINT of color to keep your lips looking health and natural. I haven’t used Smith’s Rosebud Salve, but my sister and I also LOVE the tinted Burt’s Bees line. They are a bit too colored for a guy to wear, but the perfect tint just to ward off blue lips in pictures.
Smile big friends! 🙂
