Scouting Locations | Roselle Photography

I have been asked how I find locations for shoots. Honestly, this historically hasn’t been my favorite part of my job, because of how much I hate driving and how much the weather and time of day can affect the light. But I digress.

Whenever there is something that has to be done, that I don’t love doing, I try to think of a way for me to make it more fun. When it was studying in school, I would make up songs to remember information (Nerd Alert: I had a killer rendition of a Taylor Swift song for DNA sequencing….so yeah…there was that).

Brian and I started a “thing”. It starts with ignoring his jokes about me only marrying him so I would have a chauffeur (which is only partly true 😉 ). We hop in the car, and drive around together. We talk, catch up, sing along to the radio, and hold hands. Intermittently, I will squeal to turn around because I will see something of interest.

That is the not-so-sophisticated way that I scout for locations, and get to share with my husband what I do, while growing our marriage.
