Editing Entertainment | Megan Noll

Posted in: For Photographers

I spend A LOT of time at my computer. Most weekends, I have a fresh set of 1,000 pictures to edit. Sometimes it feels like I live my life staring at Lightroom. The beautiful thing is that I can entertain myself while I work. Now, going into my fourth full year of weddings, I’ve exhausted just about everything on Netflix. Historically, I’ve loved to read, but I just don’t have the time to do it, but since I graduated from college, I’ve really missed learning. I know, I know…cheesy, but it’s true.

So, here’s what I didn’t know! You can rent audio books out from the library, WITHOUT EVER LEAVING YOUR COMPUTER! Cool, right? I get onto my county’s website, and pick out a book and rent it right there! I’ve listened to Harry Potter, C.S. Lewis, Mindy Kaling…whatever I’m feeling that day!

Sometimes, it’s hard for me to focus for that long though. My new favorite thing is podcasts. The first podcast I ever listened to was Serial. I LOVED it, but I had no idea how many podcast’s were out there. A friend told me about RadioLab and I’m obsessed. RadioLab has tons of episodes on random subjects. Even if the topic doesn’t initially sound interesting, I almost always walk away feeling like I’ve learned something new.

I just wanted to write this to challenge yourself. So much of our time is wasted on celebrity gossip, and mindless TV – and your attention is valuable. Do something today that makes you feel more educated.

If you have any podcast’s that I need to check out, comment below! I’m always looking for new ones! 🙂
